Real life.

Open Bibles.

Good food.

We weren't made to figure life out alone — and we weren't meant to experience faith that way either.

Gospel Communities are Emmaus's small groups: intimate gatherings in people's homes where we open the Bible together, share a meal, and do the kind of life that's hard to fit into a Sunday morning.

A group of seven people are sitting and chatting in a cozy living room with a coffee table in the center, decorative plants, and large windows letting in natural light.

What to Expect

Gospel Communities meet bi-weekly in homes around Baltimore.

You'll find a mix of people — grad students, young families, professionals, longtime Baltimoreans — all at different stages of faith but committed to the same thing: knowing Jesus and being known by each other.

Each gathering typically includes:

  • time in Scripture

  • honest conversation

  • good food

We love each other, take the Bible seriously and welcome hard questions.

Gathering of people in a kitchen and dining area, some standing and others seated, with food and flowers on the counter, illuminated by overhead lights.

Why "Gospel Communities"?

We call them Gospel Communities because we believe the good news of Jesus isn't just something you believe — it's something that forms a community around itself. These groups aren't a program. They're the church in living rooms.

Three men are having a conversation indoors. The man in the center has gray hair and a beard and is wearing glasses, a blue jacket, and a plaid shirt. The man on the left is wearing glasses, a green baseball cap, and a blue checkered shirt. The man on the right has a shaved head and beard and is wearing a black hoodie. They are engaging in a friendly discussion surrounded by other people in the background.
